Super 8 York Ne

The Super 8 by Wyndham in York is at Interstate 80, exit 353. My room looked recently remodeled, with furnishings in good shape, a comfortable bed, and good hot water pressure. The property was clean and the nightly rates were decent. The big parking lot can fit a truck and trailer, and a couple of restaurants and a Conoco station are within walking distance. The indoor pool is closed. I stayed one night and left at 5 a.m.; they already had fresh coffee. No complaints.

The newly renovated room was sparkling clean, and the mattress was comfy. Breakfast and coffee were great too!

We left because the place didn’t feel safe. I can’t comment on the room because we never went into it. We found a room at the Holiday Inn in a better part of town, where we felt safe. They heard our story, gave us a suite for the price of a regular room, and had a full parking lot. We didn’t get a refund from the Super 8. I’d booked for 12.20.25 through Priceline for $86.97, partly because the listing said there was a pool. I always choose hotels with pools. When I asked, I was told the pool wasn’t open and was being used for storage. The Super 8 road sign visible when driving into town also lists an indoor pool. On the Super 8 york ne website, there’s a disclaimer saying the pool is out of service, but indoor pool is still listed under amenities. The manager later told me it hadn’t been open for over ten years. Why hasn’t that sign been changed? When we arrived, I asked for a room on the north side of the main building. The clerk said they didn’t rent those rooms. While we were checking in, an unhoused man came in and kept moving around the entryway, which made my husband and me nervous. I eventually asked the clerk to help him. She said he was the manager’s relative and could stay free when it was cold. She processed a room card for him without any paperwork, just made a key card and handed it over. She gave us his first name and the story about him being the manager’s relative. He had teardrop tattoos and other tattoos on his face and neck. My husband said there was no way we were staying. It was about 7:30 p.m. and there were only three cars there, so we also wondered why we couldn’t have a room on the side where we could keep an eye on our car. The manager responded to my texts, but said he had no relative staying there. I asked him to check the camera to see who his worker lets stay for free. Again, don’t stay there. I hope my $88 helped make their budget.

The room wall had brown splatter marks, and there wasn’t much room to maneuver a chair in the handicap room. Breakfast wasn’t worth it either. They’d poured canned biscuit gravy mix into a slow cooker, and you had to wait for it to heat up. I’d go to one of the nearby restaurants or McDonald’s instead.
