Wingate by Wyndham - York

The beds were comfortable, and the room stayed quiet despite the busy area. The daytime staff were very nice, but in the evening it felt like we were a bother while they surfed the web. The rooms and facilities were definitely worn and abused. A strong CBD "skunk" smell came into our room through a pretty wide gap under the door. I wouldn’t recommend this location.

The price was good and the bed was comfortable, so I had high hopes for the hotel. A couple of hours into my trip home, my arm and hand started itching. It turned out to be bed bug bites. I called the hotel and told the manager, who said he’d look into it. If they take care of this promptly, the hotel could be great. Apart from that, my stay was good.

My family and I became residents after staying for 30 days, and we received a discounted, tax-exempt flat rate. General Manager Matt Spangler extended his hand in a way we really appreciated. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Hope especially was always smiling and up for a good conversation. At the front desk, Summer and Lisa were kind and concerned about helping us, and kept the dining room and kitchen clean. Thank you so much for the stay.

I’ve just checked in and they put a $75 hold on my account for incidentals, which I never have. They say I won’t get it back for 7 to 10 business days. If it hadn’t been so late, and if I hadn’t prepaid, I would’ve left for another hotel. The place is old and dated, with an old, moldy smell in the hallways and by the ice machines. The pillows are so small that even four of them don’t cover half the bed. I can see stains on the rug from where I’m sitting. I hope at least breakfast is good in the morning. This hotel is an insult to the Wyndham name and brand. Don’t stay here.
