Staying at Yreka motel 6 has become a pleasure with the new management and all the upgrades underway. The staff are friendly and professional, the rooms are clean, and the pet policy is great. I’ll definitely stay here again!

I’ve never stayed in a colder hotel room. There was a visible gap between the door and frame, and outdoor air came in all night. The heater was on full, but the air it blew wasn’t warm. Coming back from a camping trip, I had to use my sleeping bag under the very thin blankets just to stay warm enough. I’m usually fine with cheap, no-frills hotels, but this one didn’t provide basic shelter from the cold.

This motel needs a major update. We felt like we got an old suite and old bedding because we had dogs. The hotels in Kirkland Washington and Lost Hills were immaculate by comparison. Today we checked in at El Centro Motel 6, and that room was immaculate.

The clean towels were the one thing we were fortunate to get. After that night, I learned my lesson about choosing the cheapest option to save $40. I’d booked one night for three on Expedia and wish I’d checked Google reviews first. We’d been out all day and didn’t want to drive seven hours home in the dark, so we just needed a few hours’ sleep. It was the first and last time I’d stay at this location. The property looked run down and unkempt. The pool was closed and nasty, and there was dog feces all over the small grassy area. I watched someone take their dog out and then go back inside without picking up after it. The place looked like an apartment complex off Wilson Way in Stockton where temporary tenants live, and it definitely seemed to have long-term residents. The room was disgusting and looked nothing like the Expedia photos. The walls, TV, and doors were falling apart. It reeked of weed, maybe because the people next door were smoking and it came through the vents. The floor was so dirty that I kept my shoes on because they were cleaner. The microwave and fridge looked like they hadn’t been wiped down in a while. The beds were old and creaky. The bathroom was even worse. There was feces smeared on the wall by the toilet paper holder, hair in the shower, and a pink stain on the floor that looked permanent. The curtain was barely attached. The small toilet stank like it had never been cleaned. The AC unit was so old it had no heat or AC controls, so we slept without air in a humid room. It looked like someone had been living there long-term and had been kicked out for the night to get my $79. It was so gross that I didn’t want to take pictures, but for proof, go check Room 135. I don’t know if this is a corporate or franchise property, but the Yreka Motel 6 needs serious attention. They could learn a few things from Motel 6 in Willows, Ca. Check out my reviews and pictures of that property.

At first the room seemed like a typical Motel 6. The floor and sheets looked clean, there was no smoke smell, and the TV had a decent channel selection. Then I noticed the cigarette hole in the shower curtain and the frayed bath towel. Looking more closely, I found dirt packed into the bathroom fan, a thick layer of dust in the towel holder, and flies everywhere. The most concerning thing was a sharp metal strip hanging off the door. Stray cats would also come into the room if you left the door open for even half a minute. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.
