The location is gorgeous, with the lake visible from the cabin windows or right outside the door. We enjoyed the sunsets, access to the boat dock, and the on-site restaurant. The cabins feel a step above glamping, with plush bedding and nice towels, though the blanket was very thin. I brought my own, and would’ve been cold without it. There were lots of cracked, wobbly tiles on the bathroom floor, and getting the shower temperature right was difficult. Still, it was fine for resting between activities. The service has really gone downhill, though. I stayed two and a half weeks ago, and they charged the deposit instead of leaving it pending as most places do. I’ve called three times, but they still haven’t reversed the charge, even though the money is owed to me. When I arrived around 3PM, the front desk said I had to ask for anything by 5, since she wouldn’t be back until 9AM. That doesn’t feel like good service. I won’t return because the deposit issue is still unresolved.

We came for our 15th anniversary and stayed in a really cute one-bedroom cabin. It had a stocked kitchen, though we barely used it because the restaurant is absolutely amazing. Maybe next time! A cabin right on the beach at Lake Tahoe, what could be better?

We had the steak sandwich, and I wasn’t sure about the horseradish coleslaw, but it was mild and actually delicious. The waiter was very nice, and the atmosphere was lovely. Such a surprise just outside the city, with a beautiful view of the lake. It was a bit cold, so we sat inside by the fireplace instead of outdoors.

The cabins are cozy, warm, and stocked with utensils and towels. If you book early, you may get a waterfront view. The setting right by the lake is great. Just remember that reception is at the general store, which closes at 5 PM. If you’ll arrive later, call ahead so they can leave your keys. Otherwise, you could end up spending the night in your car.

Zephyr Cove is magical, with breathtaking views of South Lake Tahoe. The comfortable cabins have all the accommodations you could want, and the beach is only 50 yards away. In the morning we had breakfast and great coffee in the resort dining room, then walked down to the beach. There’s an old-timey riverboat called Miss Dixie. Dani, the captain, is marvelous and talks to everyone while they’re boarding and riding around on the gorgeous boat, taking in the views. Summer, the front desk manager, is smart, accommodating, and refreshing, and gives you all the information you need and more. Zack has the best personality, like a little brother you haven’t seen in ages and are so glad to see, and I adore them both. The bartenders and restaurant waiters were great, too. Housekeeping at Zephyr Cove Resort, in the cabins and around the grounds, does an excellent job. They’re incredibly detail-oriented and stay on top of whatever you need to keep your stay comfortable and clean. I can’t say enough good things about the hospitality. If you want somewhere special, go to Zephyr Cove Resort. You won’t be disappointed. See y’all there!
