The forest setting gives Carmelo Resort & Spa a really special feel. It’s a luxurious place, and the comfort and service are looked after down to the details. A memorable, refined stay, and absolutely worth recommending.

The kids were happiest riding horses with Maria, who was so sweet and attentive, biking through the forest, and spending time in the pool. Our family stayed four days, and the staff were kind and easy to reach. The room was roomy, cozy, and comfortable. There are some things the hotel could renovate, though: paint was peeling, our bathtub didn’t work properly, and the bathroom had an unpleasant smell.

Lunch was the only meal we had at the restaurant. The setting looked lovely, but the buffet cost way too much. At a third of that price, it might have been okay. I’ve had tastier takeout from the local grocery store. Really disappointing.

The quiet was a big part of the appeal. We visited in early March, when there weren’t many guests, and it felt especially peaceful. We only stayed one night, but I’d like to come back for a weekend. The rooms, furniture, and huge pool all add to the relaxing feel, as do the grape vines between the hotel and river. The décor is top notch, the food is good, and the bar, lounge, and sauna look sleek. There’s also a yoga studio with a glass wall facing the river.

I’ve rarely seen somewhere so beautiful and peaceful. The suites are huge, with nature all around, and it feels like you’re in a forest even though the beach is right there. There are pools, an on-site spa, and a meditation and yoga area by the beach. The staff are attentive and lovely, and the suites have beautiful views, walkouts, a giant bathtub, and L’Occitane amenities. I’d love to stay for longer someday, and I’m seriously thinking about organizing a women’s wellness and meditation retreat here.
