Hotel Colonial

On our last day, we came back around 10 a.m., before the noon checkout, and found all our things outside the room. The cleaning staff had taken out our luggage, personal items, and underwear and left them exposed in the hallway without asking or letting us know. It was a complete invasion of privacy. We were seven people traveling for work, and the stay was worrying and deplorable from start to finish. The room was filthy: dead cockroaches were there when we arrived, live ones appeared at night, and moving the bed exposed a buildup of grime. There were also serious electrical problems. The breaker tripped four times in a single day. Staff told us it was “hot” and we had to wait for it to cool before switching it back on, and blamed guests for running the air conditioning. That’s a real danger to guests. The outlets were faulty too, so we couldn’t charge our phones properly. There was no hygiene, no security, and no respect for guests. This place doesn’t meet the minimum standards for accommodation. I’m sharing this so nobody else has to go through the same thing. Don’t stay here.

We paid $100 USD for one night on April 18th. The room was comfortable enough, but basic, with a mattress that wasn’t very comfortable and sheets with a few tears. Breakfast was very poor quality, and parking was on the street. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to enjoy your trip.

The location is very good, but the $110 nightly rate for two adults and a 5-year-old felt extremely expensive. We stayed March 7th to 8th. Booking.com says parking is available, but it’s a reserved space on the street, which isn’t the same thing. Our room was adequate and the sheets were fine. The mattresses and pillows were a 7 out of 10, and there were yerba mate remnants beside the mini-fridge. Breakfast leaves MUCH to be desired, and there’s no air conditioning in the shared areas. We went to another hotel the following day for $117. It had a pool, a hot tub, and a good, varied breakfast. I’d only return here in an emergency.

The hotel is in a very scenic spot, and we liked the location. But the parking area is tiny and hard to get into. Our room wasn’t hygienic: there was mold on the walls and a musty smell in the bedding. Two single beds had been pushed together to make the double, and they were in poor, moth-eaten condition. The mattresses were low quality and flattened, and the bedding was in bad shape. The staff were slow, though it seemed they were doing their best with limited resources. Breakfast was adequate for the price, but the rate didn’t match the hotel’s condition. It needs maintenance as soon as possible.
