BIT Design Hotel

The rooms were clean and the location was good, but the rest felt like the bare minimum. Staff weren't helpful, the in-room WiFi was very poor, and breakfast was plain and basic, nowhere near what I'd expect from a four-star hotel. The terrace wasn't really set up for guests either, since the loungers had no cushions. For the price, it didn't feel like a four-star stay.

The breakfast buffet, which came with the room, set me up for my next day exploring Montevideo. I also got help from a receptionist finding Colonia Express on my phone so I could buy bus and ferry tickets to Buenos Aires for the day. Tres Cruces shopping mall has bus services to other countries, too. My flight had landed early, so when I got to Bit Design Hotel I left my carry-on and tote in luggage storage. The friendly receptionist printed the Hop on Hop off tourist bus schedule for me. I walked about 18 minutes to the stop near Playa Ramirez. There was another stop by Lucciano's ice cream shop, just a three-minute walk away, but its buses started later. I came back tired but happy around 5 pm, collected my bags, and went to my room. The rooms were very clean and there was plenty of hot water. We were there from Thursday to Monday, so the construction next door, which starts at 8 am on weekdays, only affected part of our stay. At first we had room 3.2, where voices from next door were loud and the room felt very small. The front desk clerk was helpful when I asked to move. We took junior suite 10.1 for an extra $100 USD per night, and I didn't regret it.

I especially liked being near the Rambla, where we could spend a relaxed afternoon watching the sun set over Rio de la Plata. Restaurants and shops were close by as well. The hotel itself is modern and conveniently placed, with spacious, up-to-date rooms and useful features. Breakfast had lots of good choices, and the coffee was incredibly good. Staying at Bit Design Hotel was a lovely part of my time in Montevideo.
