Smart Hotel Montevideo

The reception staff were pleasant and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was decent. The location also makes it easy to walk to Plaza Independencia and Old Montevideo, with restaurants and shops close by. Cafe Americano is in the building. Its chivito was top-notch, though the other lunch and dinner dishes felt like a gamble.

You can walk to several different areas from here, and plenty of bus lines are nearby. The hotel itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a nice view. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

The street outside isn’t very attractive, but the hotel is close to the attractions of the CidadecVelha. Inside, the rooms are a good size, and breakfast was very pleasant. A lovely hotel.

The staff were super friendly, and having reception open 24 hours was a real plus. The hotel is right in the center, so we could walk to just about everything. The Rambla was about 10 minutes away, and the nearest beach took around 50 minutes on foot. It can get loud outside at night, and the hotel isn’t soundproof, though that didn’t bother us too much. We tried breakfast once because we had an early start. At 14 USD, it was disappointing, so I wouldn’t recommend paying for it. We didn’t have it included in our stay. Our room was spacious, with a double bed, sofa, TV, and a desk-like area. The bathroom was decent. Big windows made it feel airy, with great views of the rio de la plata and Palacio Salvo. It was a little dated, with spots on the walls, a crack in the ceiling over the shower, and mirrors that were all corroding. I also didn’t like the bedding. The blanket was between two separate sheets, and it all got uncomfortable and messy whenever I moved. My boyfriend and I stayed four nights at the start of our South America journey. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 10 a.m., but they said they’d prioritize it and message us on WhatsApp if it became available early. We went to explore and got a message two hours ahead of schedule. That gave us time to change after our travel day before heading out. It’s a nice place for a few days, with decent rooms and great staff, though there’s room to improve.
