Hotel Fasano Punta Del Este

The hotel has excellent rooms and facilities, and the grounds are huge with plenty to offer. Breakfast was outstanding, as was the wait staff. The pool area is stunning, and I highly recommend spending a sunny day there. Reception was always trying to help with any request. The stay was outstanding overall, and I'd warmly recommend spending a few days here. I'll be back, but I'll bring my own tea. A couple of things kept me from giving five stars. If you check out before breakfast starts, you can get a takeaway selection from the buffet, but only for an extra charge. Since breakfast is already paid for, I think a bag with some pastries and fruit should be available without another fee. Also, tea bags for making tea in the room cost extra. I could understand a small charge for daily refills, but 7USD for one Twinnings Earl Grey bag is hard to fathom when a single bag costs 20 cents, a 35x difference. The price wasn't shown anywhere in the room. There was no menu, and the QR code meant to open the room service menu led to an empty page. At a hotel of this level, tea in the room should be included.

The pool bar is a lovely place for drinks, with fantastic, well-served juices too. The service there was excellent, and I don't question paying for the setting and service. But I went for a quick bite, and the food was terrible, far below what I expected for the place and price. The fritto misto, steak sandwich, and veal croquets were all really bad. That's why I gave it just one star. Have a drink, then bye-bye.

The food, the wildlife you can spot on a walk, and all the care put into planning activities at the property or trips to neighboring towns made this vacation unforgettable. We enjoyed everything the hotel has to offer and all the surprises they prepared for us. Christiano, Victoria, Max, Soledad, the equestrian team, and everyone else at Fasano, thank you. The staff are what make the experience. They coordinate everything and help with every detail, with white glove service at its finest. This place is fantastic, and why it didn't get two Michelin keys is a mystery. It's a must visit on a trip to Punta del Este.
