Hotel Los Cedros

The rooms are spacious, the bed is comfortable, and they have all the basic amenities. Wi-Fi was fast enough for me to attend my online conference without any trouble. The staff were pleasant and helpful too.

The location is excellent, and the rooms are fine, though the bathroom setup is awkward. The elevator kept getting stuck, which was a disaster. Service was only average as well. We were meant to get dinner vouchers, but although we were sharing a room, they gave us vouchers for two different restaurants.

All the staff were attentive, friendly, and ready to help. They lend hairdryers from reception because the rooms don’t have them. The lobby and reception are the only parts that have been modernized; the rooms date from when the hotel was built in 1971, during construction of the dam, but they’re tidy and clean. The mattresses are very comfortable, and so is the shower. The dining room is on the fourth floor, with a lovely city view and a vaulted ceiling designed by Dieste. Breakfast is a very complete buffet, and there’s a garage for guests. The location is excellent, close to tourist sights and restaurants. From the bus terminal, a taxi is best and costs around 300 pesos. Taxi Gustavo is the best. You can walk too, it takes about 35 minutes. I highly recommend it.

The apartment had a strong, unpleasant smell that was hard to identify, and the odor was noticeable in the room too. The price online didn’t match what they charged, which was confusing and felt unclear. The hotel costs far more than what it offers, so I found the experience unsatisfactory.
