The breakfast is just okay, though there’s enough to keep you going until lunch. Staff are really nice, a little shy and quiet, and their English is pretty good. The hotel’s location is hard to beat, right across from the citadel at the edge of the old town. There’s always activity in the event spaces, and the historic buildings, shops, and restaurants are only a short walk away. Uzbekistan seemed very safe to us, and we felt safe here too. When events were on, the area had gated entrances, metal detectors, and police every few meters. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with housekeeping each day. The courtyard in the middle of the building is lovely, and the shared areas also seemed well cared for. Two things didn’t work for us: the safe wasn’t straightforward to use, and we had to ask reception to open it with a master key, so we gave up on it. Also, the raised threshold between the bedroom and bathroom is high enough to stub your toe on.

The people here made our stay. Farrux, the manager, was generous and supportive, always ready to help with a smile. Mekroj and Abdu were warm, funny, and kind, and we had so much fun with you guys. Farrukh, Mohammed, and the rest of the crew deserve a mention too. We felt like we’d become part of a family. Caravan Hotel is cozy, welcoming, and full of life, with two beautiful patios. It’s just steps from the historic center, and the city and this special place made for an unforgettable experience. ✨🕌

We stopped by the hotel restaurant for a quick lunch and tea. After ordering, I asked where the restroom was and the woman at reception said all the hotel restrooms were being renovated. I found that hard to believe. The staff’s behavior felt unfriendly and showed no culture.

The staff were friendly, and the location is the main plus, about a five-minute walk from the old town. The rooms are quite small, though, and both the hotel and breakfast felt lower class. We stayed in August 2018, when work across from the hotel was creating a lot of dust and other annoyances.
