Lyabi House Hotel

The paperwork at checkout was another hassle. I asked for a registration form, but was told their system wasn't working. They took my email and said they'd send it within an hour, but nothing arrived until I followed up. The first form had misspelled names, and they corrected it later. I only stayed one night, and left very disappointed. I'd booked through a tour aggregator and also confirmed with the hotel, yet at arrival they said there'd been a mistake. The choices were a room with no window or one with an unclean window and broken AC. Neither was what I'd booked. I picked the place for its design, but there wasn't much to like beyond the restaurant. The restaurant staff were very young and seemed more interested in their phones than helping guests. At breakfast they barely assisted the tourists and came across as not caring. It felt like the staff and management didn't care about guests. The restaurant may be fine on its own, but I wouldn't stay here and would recommend finding another place to sleep.

The restaurant was good, but the stay was stressful. There was a payment problem at check-in, and breakfast was just mediocre. The real trouble came when we nearly missed our train. The receptionist had said a driver would be in the lobby at exactly 6:10, but nobody was there and he was asleep. We woke him, and he called a taxi, but that driver cancelled at the last minute. I ended up ordering and paying for another taxi myself, though the ride was supposed to be included. I wouldn't recommend booking here.

The staff deserve 6 stars out of 5. Excellent stay!

The fresh, tasty vegetables were just what we wanted after a long, hot day of touring, and the food was good. The real star, though, was the piano player. She was incredible and brought so much life to that beautiful room. Five stars for her!
