Shakh

Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and offered a good range of choices. My room at Shakh Hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with a cozy feel that made it easy to unwind after exploring Bukhara. The hotel is close to major historical sights, but it’s still quiet and peaceful. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Check-in was smooth and professional. I had a great stay, and would gladly come back. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Bukhara.

Getting around was easy from here. Most tourist spots are within walking distance, and the place is easy to find right on the street. There are plenty of nearby restaurants and ATMs, too. The bed was very comfortable, and the amenities were good enough for a convenient stay. Breakfast was basic, but it was enough to get going before having a more filling meal later. I had a pleasant stay overall.

The check-in registration went smoothly, which was the only good thing about this stay. We had initially booked another guesthouse, but apparently it was closed for winter and we were sent here for the same price. I didn’t think this hotel was good. Our room was right beside reception, with a very thin door. We could hear the receptionist watching loud videos late into the evening. For two people, we were given just one blanket and one towel. They wouldn’t accept credit cards and didn’t have change, and we never got an invoice. On our last night, someone entered our room at 7 am with a general key. Luckily we were awake, and that person left immediately.

The courtyard was such a calm place to come back to after walking around Bukhara, and the staff made me feel welcome from the start. I stayed two nights at Hotel Shakh and was really happy with it. My room was roomy, clean, and decorated with a traditional touch that still felt comfortable. The price was amazing too: those two nights cost me what half a day in Samarkand had, and I liked the room and experience here much more. A lovely little find if you want a good-value stay. I'd happily come back.
