Khiva Residence Hotel

After a full day at the fortress, it was reassuring to have a short, safe walk back at night. The hotel is about 10 minutes away on foot, with large rooms, reliable hot water and good wifi. Breakfast was a small buffet but had enough choice, including hot dishes. Beds were quite hard. The ATM in the lobby worked well, and the hotel was solid and comfortable.

The evening receptionist was very helpful. The rooms are huge, comfortable and well equipped, though the hotel could use better management. On our first day nobody emptied the trash or restocked the tea, coffee and toiletries. Breakfast choices were limited too.

It was snowing, and the staff’s hospitality made the whole stay feel magical. The hotel itself is beautiful and within walking distance of the fortress.

The breakfast was decent, and the location made a good first impression. But there’s no elevator, and water leaked from somewhere beneath the bathtub during showers. I travel with medication that needs temperature control, and the setup really didn’t work for that. The minibar fridge switched off when I left the room because only the hotel key cards could keep the electricity on. Staff said they would freeze my ice pack, and I stressed that it needed to be frozen solid. When I got it back the next day, it was only a little cool and not frozen.
