Dilfuza Hotel

The room had a comfortable bed and a great shower, and the Wi-Fi worked well. There’s no kettle or fridge, though. It’s a handy spot near a major bus hub, supermarkets, and some decent shawarma places. The main tourist sights are under a thirty-minute walk, if you don’t mind getting some exercise. I had a nice stay and can’t complain.

The location served us well, and breakfast was delicious at the lovely café on the first floor. We even had Turkish baklava for dessert. Our rooms were spacious, spotless, comfortable, and had excellent Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The staff were eager to help: when we asked for a kettle, even though it wasn’t standard, they brought one and checked if we needed anything else. Damir, the owner, was kind and accommodating. We were traveling with an elderly family member, and they moved our room from the third floor to the second to make things easier. The hotel has just opened, so everything is brand new. We’ll stay here whenever we visit Samarkand and highly recommend it.

We found the hotel very noisy, with car horns sometimes starting as early as 6 a.m. Housekeeping came every two days, and there were mice in the restaurant. Other issues included only two small water bottles for four days, breakfast unavailable before 8:30 a.m. and not served buffet-style, and outlets by the bed that didn’t work. The table seemed ready to collapse if touched, and the bathroom was poorly designed. Reception staff spoke only Uzbek and Russian, so it was hard to count on being understood in English. There’s no elevator, and you have to climb 19 or 38 steps depending on your floor. The description was sometimes inaccurate. This was the worst hotel we stayed at in Uzbekistan in April 2025.

The room was warm, but the four beds were much too close together. The worst problem was having no running water in the toilets. It was absolute torture. In this day and age, that kind of deficiency is unacceptable in the most spiritual city of a Muslim country.
