The whole family who runs the Samarkand Ali is incredibly kind, and the owner went out of his way to help us feel comfortable. We were also well looked after at breakfast, which was very good every day. The hotel is right in the city centre, less than a ten-minute walk from the Registan. I’m happy to recommend it.

I’m not good at English, and I found it hard to understand the way Uzbeks pronounced English, so speaking was difficult. The family used Google Translate to communicate with me. What stayed with me most was their sincere hospitality. Every morning the owner asked with gestures, “Did you sleep well?” His wife had a lovely smile.

It was a clean, quiet and comfortable stay, with delicious breakfasts and very hospitable hosts. The hotel had opened just three months earlier, and it’s in an excellent spot, about a five-minute walk from the historical centre at Registan Square. I’m grateful to the hosts and recommend staying here.
