The room was decent and clean, and the staff friendly enough. The spot isn’t too badly located, with a mini Mart, a burger place, and a shashlik place close by. Breakfast was okay.

The breakfasts were probably the best we had in Uzbekistan, and the rooms were comfortable, quiet, and clean, with comfortable beds too. Staff were all wonderful and friendly, and many spoke enough English for us to communicate easily. It’s well placed for many of the city’s main tourist attractions. I’d certainly recommend this guest house if you’re staying in Samarkand, just be sure not to confuse it with the hotel of a similar name down the street.

The service here was the standout. They arranged transport around the city and a guided tour, then helped when we realized we’d booked the wrong train tickets. They took us to the station and helped us get new ones. The manager was terrific, and the people were the kindest we’ve met in the hotel business. We stayed one night while visiting Samarkand. The room was lovely, and the peaceful garden in the inner courtyard was beautiful. It’s just a few steps from Registan Square. Top service, highly recommended if you’re planning a visit.

The host family were welcoming and lovely to interact with. Breakfast comes as an ample Uzbek-style buffet, served in a small room or out in the courtyard. The room was very clean, with traditional decorations that gave it a cozy feel, and the bathroom was small but fine for getting ready each morning. Jahongir Guest House is tucked into an alley in Samarkand’s Old Town, very close to Registan Square, so it’s easy to explore at any time. The other main sights are walkable too. I’d recommend staying here.
