Meros Boutique-hotel

Everyone made us feel welcome and took great care of us. The breakfast was generous, with really tasty somsas and good coffee. We had a great shower and bathroom, plus a very large room with a fridge and a kettle, coffee and tea. The bed was the most comfortable one of our holiday. The hotel is in an excellent spot, just behind kukladosh medressa.

The room feels pretty much brand new, and it’s clean. Desk staff have been friendly, and there are several coffee shops and restaurants just a few minutes’ walk away. They leave two bottles of water each day.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which really matters. There’s a decent breakfast buffet and good WiFi, and the rear rooms have nice mountain views, at least from the top floor where I stayed. My twin room was so large it felt almost like a small apartment, even though the hotel itself is small. It’s at one end of University Boulevard, with a pleasant walk of just over a kilometre to Registan Square. A strong option if you’re looking for a hotel in Samarkand.

The personal connection I made with the people at Meros is what I’ll remember most. I may forget the names of some Madrasahs and important Uzbek people, but not the people here. It was an honor to meet the owner, Zafar, and his wife and son. Lazizjon seemed to handle every kind of service, and Belle kept the kitchen running smoothly and made sure I got safely on my way to the train station. I’d rate Meros Boutique Hotel even higher if I could. I arrived earlier than the rules allowed and needed to limit stair use because of an ankle injury. The owner and staff quickly found a solution by moving me from the top floor to the first floor, without mentioning an extra charge for early check-in. After almost a year of travel and many hotels, that kind of thoughtful flexibility felt special alongside the professional service. My room, the lobby and the dining area were all immaculately clean. The location works well for cultural and historical sites, restaurants and coffeehouses. Breakfast is geared toward most guests, but they asked if there was anything else I’d like added, and it was there the next morning.
