Shaxzoda Lux Hotel

We had a comfortable stay at Shaxzoda. The bathroom was huge and modern, and the room was nice, though the twin beds were pretty small, to be honest. Staff were super friendly, both at reception and each morning at breakfast. The buffet was great and the coffee was good too. Central park is within walking distance, but the main Samarkand sights are a bit farther away.

The staff were best at anticipating what we might need and stepping in to help. A special shout-out to Ulugbeg at the front desk for helping us with our delivered dinner. We had a comfortable stay, and some great restaurants are just a short walk away.

Lovely hotel with beautiful, comfortable rooms, and the AC and WiFi worked great. If you're staying with little kids, make sure every window is shut, including in the bathroom, bedroom, and sitting area. Our bathroom window was unlocked, very tall and almost floor-to-ceiling. It opens almost like a door, with no balcony or anything to stop a child from falling out.

The lobby smells nice and they offer free candies. The courtyard is pleasant too, with a fountain, plants, and comfortable lounge chairs, a good place to relax with a can of beer (beer) at the end of the day. The interior is very opulent, in a Russian-era style, from the carpets and drapes to the plush armchairs with detailed wood carvings. For me, the rest is so-so. Breakfast is basic, mostly fruit, sandwiches, and precooked eggs and sausages, though the samsa is my favorite. They only serve instant granule coffee, and brewed coffee or an americano costs extra. Sauna and pool use also costs extra for guests. Shower pressure was weak, and I couldn't rinse the soap off properly because it took forever.
