Yangi Sharq Hotel

The location is a real plus: there's a big, beautiful park right behind the hotel, lots of restaurants nearby, and the main attractions are about 1-1.5km away on foot. The room rates are low, but I didn't find it good value because many facilities advertised on the website weren't available. I had asked about an airport transfer, but got no reply and had to make my own way there. The room was tiny and claustrophobic, with one uncomfortable bed. The TV had YouTube but no cable channels, and even YouTube didn't work. They tried to fix it, then gave up. There was an empty fridge instead of a minibar, and a kettle with no tea or coffee. Breakfast came with the room but was boring, with no juice, fruit, or cereal. The water went off for more than four hours one day. When it came back, it was muddy brown. I ran the taps for over an hour, but the water stayed discolored all night. The next morning it took another 30 minutes to clear. I asked to move rooms, but was told the hotel was fully booked, even though I'd only seen three other people at breakfast. I had booked nine nights in September, but checked out after three days. At checkout, they would take Visa but not Mastercard, so I paid in local cash. I got some change, but was short-changed: I only noticed after leaving that they'd given me a 10000 note instead of 100000. I emailed about it and got no response.

Mansoor and the rest of the team were friendly and helpful, and made sure our stay was excellent. The lobby and dining area are very pretty, and Yangi Sharq itself is beautiful. It’s also well placed, with many of Samarkand’s best sights an easy walk away. A very good stay.

Mansur deserves a special thank you for his hospitality and help. Everyone on staff was attentive and friendly, and I felt well looked after. The rooms were cozy and clean, and the air conditioning worked well without blowing straight at your head. The location is peaceful but still close to the main sights, including Registan Square. You can walk around easily, and there are ATMs, cafes, and shops nearby. I really liked the hotel and will definitely return.

The breakfast was terrible 😖, basically rice soaked in boiling water with some kind of spice, plus an egg, bread, butter, and tea. That was everything. At night, traffic noise was very disturbing, and the soundproofing was very, VERY poor. Even people in courtyard-facing rooms complained about the road noise in the morning. The hotel sits in a touristy part of the city center, with historical sights nearby and University Boulevard, a wide park with fountains, close by.
