Hotel Shosh Palace

Our three days in Room 308 were very disappointing. The toilet smelled foul the whole time, even after we complained repeatedly. There was also no hot water for two days, despite waiting over an hour. We got no breakfast on any of the three days, since food wasn't available or replenished, and there were no plates or cups. Reception either couldn't understand English or seemed to avoid talking with guests. For two days, we were told the manager wasn't available and it was “not their problem.” Even drinking water wasn't available at reception. Poor maintenance, service, and accountability. I wouldn't recommend it.

The welcome and generosity from the staff made my three-day trip to Uzbekistan a great stay at the Shosh Botique Hotel. I recommend it if you're after something affordable, comfortable, and enjoyable. Special thanks to the reception team, especially Mr. Firdous, for their hospitality and service throughout our stay.

I wouldn't recommend this place. Each time I left and came back, reception stopped me and made me prove I was staying there. They also enforce sharia rules at check-in, so you can't get one room with a partner of the opposite gender unless they're your official wife.

The kitchen lady was the rudest person I've ever dealt with. Make sure you get to the kitchen before 9:30 AM, or they may humiliate you and refuse breakfast. I was there with my husband and two kids. Breakfast was included in our stay, which I'd paid extra for, and the hours were 7-10 AM. At 9:30 one morning, the woman seemed annoyed we were there, as if her day was already over. She cleared the table and gave us looks like we'd created more work for her. We managed with what was left. The next day my child was sick, so we arrived around 9:45, still within the stated hours. She was even angrier, behaved badly, said we were late, and refused to give us food. I was shocked, since the hours ran until 10 and she shouldn't have been able to refuse us even if we'd arrived at 10. We left and ate breakfast outside the hotel instead. I complained about her, but the management and rules were pathetic. After such a bad experience, I won't recommend this hotel. There was no hospitality or service at all.
