Paradise Inn Hostel

The location worked perfectly for me, with a supermarket right beside the hotel and metro and bus stations within reach. The bed was wide and comfortable, and the privacy curtain was great. I also got an early check-in. I’d hesitated to book after seeing lots of negative comments, but I had a great time during my stay.

I arrived at midnight and the entrance was so poorly marked that I had to call their number and contact them on WhatsApp. The receptionist then didn’t know English, though he was helpful. The bathrooms were very dirty, and the smell made me feel like throwing up. I thankfully got a clean bed, but there were mosquitoes, or something like them, even though I hadn’t seen any mosquito during four days in Uzbekistan. I couldn’t sleep until I put on noise-cancelling headphones because someone in the room was watching things on their phone out loud. In the morning I skipped the shower because of the dirty bathroom. The morning receptionist knew English, thankfully. I asked to leave my backpack for the day and they agreed, but kept it in the public kitchen instead of a storage area. He thought I was still checked in for the next night. When I came back in the evening to put a small thing in my bag and leave again, he asked me to pay for the night. Once he realized I wasn’t staying, he told me to take my bag and leave, with a rude attitude. They also won’t keep your luggage after checkout. I didn’t try breakfast, Wi-Fi or anything else. It’s only a place to get a bed, if you’re desperate to be near this location. Otherwise, choose somewhere else, even if it costs more. Even then, who knows whether the bedding will be clean or roommates will stay quiet instead of playing something on loudspeaker.

The room was full of flies and insects, and I couldn’t sleep because flies and mosquitoes kept biting me until morning. There was no AC remote in the room, and when I asked, the staff wouldn’t give it to me. The women’s toilet smelled disgusting, and breakfast was disgusting too, with nothing to eat. You’d be better off eating outside, and it could cost less. The young evening receptionist was extremely rude and disrespectful. He needs to learn how to speak to people.

For a very affordable hostel near Amir Temur Square, this is worth a stay. The room was fairly nice and comfortable, and the toilet and bathroom were also fairly nice and clean. It’s close to tourist attractions, a supermarket or grocery store, the metro, bazaar and bus station.
