Gingerbread Suites

A second-floor suite gave us a terrace over the water, plus a spacious room with a kitchen, bathroom, and a workspace looking onto the gardens. It has that comfortable local character I like, rather than feeling like a lifeless hotel room. The place is right on the water and has a real island vibe. It looked to me as if the property had been renovated in recent years. The cute gingerbread-shaped open windows now have glass over them, presumably to address past insect complaints, and air conditioning has been added. Running it also helps with outside noise, since the hotel is right by the port. Lots of restaurants and bars are within walking distance. I’ll be back and recommend it to anyone who likes local character.

From our very comfortable porch, we could watch the harbor come and go, with beautiful gardens around the building. The rooms are spacious, the views are beyond compare, and wonderful restaurants are an easy walk away. Most of all, the owners and staff made us feel like family. I had a bad knee, and they brought beach chairs from their own home for us to use during our stay, with a footrest. Can't wait to return. This place is heaven.

Right in the heart of a charming bay, the location is great. Our room was spacious and very clean, and the large terrace had comfortable furniture where we could relax and enjoy the views. Booking was easy, and the host was friendly, quick to reply, and happy to accommodate our requests.

We booked several nights but checked out after just one. The view was amazing, but there was no hot water or air conditioning, and holes in the screens let in too many mosquitoes. We also found coffee bean-sized animal droppings on one of the beds. Most of the positive reviews I noticed were over a year old. This charming location has a lot of potential if the owners invest in upgrades and renovations.
