The beach is gorgeous and secluded, and there’s a complimentary shuttle to pick you up, which is helpful. I loved the clean property and the thoughtfully designed villas with private pools. Staff were very attentive and accommodating, and the food was fresh and made to order. They were also happy to handle dietary restrictions and requests. For a chance to unplug and recharge, The Liming is a true gem. I’ve traveled all over the world, and I can say that confidently.

The food was the standout for us, and all the servers were lovely, though a few could use more training. They often didn’t anticipate needs or respond well even when we told them each day. We’d end up getting our bill, fresh cutlery, or drink refills by asking in person, and the service got worse as the stay went on. I also wished for more casual afternoon options like cookies or ice cream, some snacks in the minibar, and more breakfast choices. The music in the restaurant kept cutting in and out all evening, leaving us with the phone ringing and the ocean in the background. We chose The Liming for its quiet, tucked-away setting, and the seclusion was just right. But there isn’t much to do: only two kayaks and two paddle boards, with no gym or cafe. Beach service was scarce, so we had to go to the bar for drinks and water. Getting into town cost a lot, especially when staff drivers were available but we still had to take taxis. The rooms are spacious and nice, but need updating and small touches to feel like the luxury stay they’re aiming for. The bedroom had harsh LED bulbs instead of warm yellow light, the furniture was old and dated, including the beach furniture, and the place lacked cozy, home-like details. The bed wasn’t comfortable either. This could be a one-of-a-kind gem, but it’s missing the details and exceptional hospitality that would make it one.

During our daily walk, we stop at the bar at the liming for a drink nearly every day. The Caribbean view is hard to beat, the drinks are cold, and the staff are really friendly. On a breezy afternoon, try the cucumber elderflower cocktail. It’s a refreshing one to sip while looking out over the water.

Expedia and Hilton.com both advertised the hotel as pet friendly, with rules and a fee policy listed. I called to confirm my stay details, only to be told that pets aren’t welcome. Now it’s too late to find another pet-friendly place. -1

The only issue for us was the hot water, which was minimal at times and sometimes missing. The weather was overcast, with just a few hours of full sun, and the solar heater never got as hot as we like. The team checked and said that was expected in those conditions. A small electric water heater in each room would have made things perfect, which is why we gave the room 4 out of 5 stars. Everything else about our week at The Liming was beautiful and relaxing. The team took care of us from the ferry arrival in Bequia from St Vincent to our departure back to St Vincent. The driver and shuttle met us on arrival, and staff greeted us at The Liming with a rum punch. The fresh air, sounds, sights, and feel of the place can be a lot to take in at first. We enjoy peace and quiet, and that’s what we got. Whenever we had a question or needed help, the team was there. They also recommended and arranged services outside the hotel and took care of every wish during our stay. We ate at the on-site restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and every dish was delicious. We’re often reluctant to eat at hotels because the food can be generic and bland, but that wasn’t the case here. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and hot, and the chef got it right each time. After dinner, he’d come over to check that everything was okay, and it was. For our last dinner, he asked what we preferred, and we asked him to surprise us. He knew about our food allergies, picked fresh ingredients that morning, and made us something off the menu. Whoever brought that chef to The Liming made a great choice. Swimming in the pool just off our room first thing in the morning was amazing. The ocean was clear and lovely for swimming or snorkeling. I got carried beyond the reefs while following fish, and the kayak was just as easy to lose yourself in. The breeze and calm could leave you dazed and paddling on. We got much-needed rest from work and life’s stress, and enjoyed every moment. The team looked after us from start to finish. We’ll be back with our children. Bequia and The Liming are something everyone should experience at least once.
