Hotel Chacao Suites

The beds were very comfortable, and both the rooms and bathrooms are nice and spacious. The hotel is in Caracas's financial center and easy to reach. There's also a metro station nearby, though I didn't use it because everyone advises against taking the metro. Wi-Fi is very bad throughout the hotel. The breakfast is simple and the same every day, nothing special but okay. All the outlets near the bed and bedside lamps were out of order, so I couldn't charge my phone there and had to use the bathroom outlet. There's a young, dark-haired clerk who speaks English very well. Unfortunately, he told me a taxi to the center costs 15 US dollars, which simply isn't true. Across the street, taxis cost only $5. I can only guess why he said that, but being treated that way by an employee left a bad taste. All in all, I can recommend the hotel.

From two of my three stays here, these are the things to know. The city view from higher rooms is awesome, especially early in the morning, and they provide a big bottle of water in your room every day, the cheapest in town. For the rest, be ready for a skin rash. Be specific when asking for the room to be cleaned, or they may not even change your cups, towels, and sheets. The ice machines in the corridors have no ice. Even if you're only two minutes past breakfast time, they won't let you get coffee, even if you're willing to pay. And they don't accept every credit card.

We enjoyed our stay. The location was great, and the service was excellent.

The reception staff were courteous, but the hotel itself wasn't in good condition. The rooms were okay, though the Wi-Fi didn't work. Basic items had to be requested, and drinking water wasn't provided, so a bottle cost USD 1.5. Our towel wasn't replaced, and the room card failed. We had to visit reception twice before they fixed it.
