Inter Maracaibo Hotel

We booked two weeks ahead for a special Valentine's dinner, and it turned into a terrible evening. Our table wobbled and was in a very bad spot. The hostess couldn't find it at first, and my name was wrong on the reservation. Then we sat for 30 minutes without a menu, water, or a server. More than an hour in, an appetizer and welcome wine finally arrived, but the waitress disappeared again. We waited two hours before anyone took our order, despite trying several times to get her attention. Our water was never topped up, and nobody offered more wine or other drinks. The event seemed badly organized, and it wasn't worth our time or money. Worst February 14 dinner I've had. I'd give zero stars if I could.

I used to think this place was good, but this visit was awful. The restaurant was nearly empty and the food still took ages. We ordered a parrilla, which was supposed to include beef, but it arrived without any. When we complained, they said they'd forgotten it. The price was another mess: we were first told $25, then the employee wrote down $28, and after we ate they charged $35, saying the prices had been mixed up and those were old ones. They also put a drink on the bill that we hadn't ordered, though they removed it once we pointed it out. It felt like they were trying to squeeze money out of us at every turn. Don't go if you don't want your day ruined.

The people were incredible, and the food and service were both great. We'll definitely return.

The panoramic view over Lake Maracaibo is a big part of what makes this the best hotel in Maracaibo for me. Its atmosphere has a classic feel, and the friendly staff and excellent service make it a nice place to stay and enjoy the amenities that set the Intercontinental apart from the city's other hotels.
