Victoria House

I've stayed at Victoria House twice, and both times the staff were super friendly and took care of what we needed. The beds are really comfortable, the bathrooms are nice, and the place is clean. The renovation of this late 18th-century building is excellent. I was surprised to see another reviewer complain about the location. It's on the quiet end of the island in Fredericksted, with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Don't hesitate, it's a wonderful place to stay.

Brian was extremely helpful on our first night, when the municipal water went out. He brought us water and was happy to answer all our questions. The room was clean, a nice size, and had a private bathroom with the right amount of amenities. We stayed in the Rainforest, reached by a private entrance off the side street and up one and a half flights of stairs. It was beautifully decorated with Victorian touches, and the hotel is across from the F’sted pier.

We arrived around 5 PM and left the next day to check into another hotel in Christiansted. There were no refunds, but leaving was worth it. Expedia wasn't any help, even though we booked the second hotel through them too. The hotel was listed on Expedia as newly renovated, but it absolutely wasn't. Trash was all over the streets, the area felt unsafe, and most places were closed. We were told things don't really open until Cruise Day. The small convenience stores nearby were as run-down as the neighborhood. We were advised to say “good morning, good afternoon, and good evening” at the right times so locals wouldn't know we were tourists. My 18-year-old daughter and her friend weren't allowed to go outside without my husband. It was loud much of the night, with ATVs and dirt bikes speeding by, and trucks driving the wrong way on the hotel's one-way street. Do not stay here. Heed the warning.
