Olga's Fancy

The steps are wide, low, and have handrails, so they were easy to manage, though there are a lot of them. Keep that in mind if mobility is limited. The place has gorgeous views, local character, and a lot of history. There are plenty of nearby spots to walk to, including a market for basics or breakfast. The front desk was kind and helpful with arranging our taxi. Our room was clean, the AC was quiet and worked well, and the internet was strong. In my opinion, it's one of the best places to stay on St Thomas.

We were already on the island for my wife's 50th birthday when, just eight days before arrival, they canceled our stay by text. They said the hotel had been bought and the new owner wasn't honoring existing reservations. We had to stop vacationing and scramble to find somewhere else. When I asked by text what would happen with third-party bookings, the reply began, "Not sure who this is, but to answer your question..." I was replying to their cancellation. After causing this disruption, they could have shown some respect. Because the cancellation came only by text, I couldn't email it to Delta Stays, and they couldn't initially process it. Delta had no record that Olga's was canceling. I forwarded the text, and a Delta representative tried calling two Olga's numbers, including the one in the text. Nobody answered. I called too, with the same result. Delta first tried to charge me a last-minute cancellation fee even though Olga's Fancy had canceled the reservation. I said I wouldn't pay it, so they wouldn't process the cancellation. A supervisor eventually believed me and started processing it, but said Delta wouldn't refund me because Olga's Fancy didn't allow cancellations at such short notice. I texted Olga's Fancy again. They said they were "calling our contact tomorrow" and would refund or relocate everyone affected. That never happened, and I never heard from them again. Fortunately, my Delta status helped me get a refund, but Delta made clear it was a courtesy and Olga's wasn't refunding my money. The new owner seems awful. After starting their ownership by canceling vacations a week out, I'd stay miles away from this hotel and its new owners.

Beautiful views from all around, and the pool was a nice place to cool off before heading back out. The hotel is near several restaurants and a reasonable walk from downtown. We had plenty of parking for our car. There was occasional noise from little planes, but only during the day.

The staff helped make our honeymoon feel special. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and they offered local tips and help getting around the island. The rooms aren't fancy, but they were clean, comfortable, and roomier than we expected. There are quite a few steps to reach them, though the views from the top are worth the climb. We loved the scenery and the wandering chickens and cats around the property, when they felt like saying hello. The location was great, with good restaurants nearby. The French restaurant close by was amazing, and shopping areas and the ferry to St. John were a quick taxi ride away. My husband and I absolutely loved staying at Olga’s Fancy and would happily come back.
