Victoria Can Tho Resort

The hotel has a lovely, breezy feel, with lush greenery, furnishings, architecture, and design that give it an Indochine atmosphere. I’m glad I chose Victoria Resort and only wish I’d had a couple more days to relax there. I spent most of the visit sightseeing, but did manage to fit in an excellent massage at the spa. My two-night stay at Victoria Can Tho Resort was very pleasant, and I was upgraded to a room with a balcony. All the staff were wonderfully helpful, especially my bellboy Tha. He was cheerful, personable, and professional, and went out of his way to make me feel at home. He seemed genuinely interested in me and in making the stay memorable. When I left, he gave me a thank-you note on a souvenir card, thanked me for the chance to serve me, and wished me a safe trip home. It was a lovely gesture I won’t forget. Superb Vietnamese hospitality!

The location worked really well: about a 10-minute walk to the main city centre street, across a bridge that’s all lit up at night. It’s close to everything but tucked away enough to feel private and quiet. The room was lovely and spacious, with clean, well-kept amenities and a comfortable bed. I slept well and had no complaints about that. Breakfast was the weak point for me. There wasn’t much variety, and the Vietnamese food station outside had only a couple of choices. I like having Vietnamese food and plenty of options, so I found it pretty underwhelming.

Breakfast was a highlight each morning, and the restaurant food was consistently delicious, with plenty to satisfy both our Western and Asian cravings. My daughter and I also joined the complimentary yoga sessions, a lovely, relaxing part of the stay. Tha and Tuan helped make our visit especially memorable. They regularly checked whether they could do anything else to improve our stay, and were thoughtful with our teenage children. The kids felt welcome and made full use of the facilities, including table tennis, the tennis court, and pool table. Everything from the room and amenities to the food and service exceeded our expectations. The location was just a short walk from town, but still peaceful and private. We’d gladly recommend Victoria Can Tho Resort and hope to return to Can Tho with friends and family.

The sunset boat trip was lovely, and the snacks were delicious and beautifully presented. But nobody asked about dietary needs beforehand. My partner is vegetarian, and only the peanuts and fresh fruit were suitable. Everything else had fish or meat, which was a big letdown. I’m not vegetarian, and even I could see how disappointing that was. They apologized profusely when we mentioned it. The pool was really nice, very clean, with plenty of shade during the day. We also enjoyed the short welcome shoulder massage, and all the staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was very crowded, though, and it was hard to find a seat. The outdoor bar wasn’t always staffed, so sometimes you had a bit of a hike in your swimsuit to get service. Otherwise it was a lovely hotel and a nice stay, though the colonial nostalgia atmosphere made me feel a bit ick.
