Star Hill Resort Phu Quoc

The staff were sweet and humble, and the pool was small but clean. We were a family of three, and getting to our room meant taking the stairs from the entrance, which felt a bit tiring each time we came and went. The property is old and dated. Don't expect a big food spread, it was basic. We didn't try lunch or dinner there. With all the bushes and trees around, lizards, snails during rain, moths, and flies are common. We rented a bike from the property, but it needed to be in better condition, especially the brakes.

The cottages looked nice and were spacious. Ours had two double beds, both very comfortable. There's a nice pool with a shallow section for children and a deeper one. We stayed four nights and had a good, varied, tasty breakfast every morning. Staff were very friendly and did all they could to make us comfortable. The property is within walking distance of the main road. The only downside was music and singing from a big party at the bars on the main street. It was loud on our first night, but I didn't hear it as much on the following nights.

I've stayed here many times because I really love the place. It feels like you're among nature, the staff are always smiling and welcoming, and the Wi-Fi comfortably gets over 50 Mbps. You can refill your water bottle on site, too. Breakfast comes with coffee, tea, orange juice, bread, fruit, and vegetables. There's a pool, which can be a little dirty on some days, but I still enjoy it. The shower pressure is sometimes weak, and occasionally there's no hot water, though not every day, so I find it acceptable. The property seems much better maintained than before. The walls have been repainted, and there's now a new area where children can play. If you're visiting during mosquito season, I'd recommend borrowing a net from the front desk.

The kind, warm staff made the stay for me. They seemed to genuinely care and did their best to help with anything I asked. That goes a long way. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and reasonably priced, and cleaner than many places I've stayed. It didn't feel like a true five-star hotel, but for what we paid, that seemed like a fair expectation. It isn't luxury in the strict sense, but it's worth staying for the comfort, value, and people.
