The room had plenty of space, three beds, a private bathroom, towels, a little fridge, clean sheets, and a hot shower that worked well. I was there over the holidays and paid the standard rate for a private room. Since I had a motorbike, the location was manageable, though it’s about a 25-minute walk from the city centre. It was an okay place to sleep for a night if you’re looking for somewhere cheap. The room felt grubby, the mattresses were quite firm, and the duvets looked like they hadn’t been washed in a while. Not the cosiest or cleanest stay.

The owner is a really nice guy. It’s a bit far from the centre, but only a 15-minute walk.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times, but this visit was awful. I left a leather puffer jacket like the one in the picture behind, and housekeeping took it. When I asked about it, the hotel blamed me for leaving it there. I did leave it behind, but that doesn’t give her the right to take my jacket.

The guest house owner at guest house 99, Cao Bang city was cheerful and made us feel welcome. The price was reasonable, and we were satisfied with the stay. We’ll come back next time.

When guests ask for belongings they left behind, they get verbally abused. The housekeeping staff just take those things.
