Alley Garden Homestay

The room was rougher than the photos suggested, with mold on the walls and ceiling, ants throughout the bathroom, a sink that wouldn’t drain, and a generally grungy feel. The next morning, the power and A/C were out. Nobody sent an explanation, so I texted the owner. They said the government had shut off the power and they didn’t know when it would return. We checked out a day early. On arrival, a staff member greeted us but immediately began promoting her sister’s tailoring shop and saying we should support it. I understand family businesses are often promoted here, but after a 12-hour travel day we just wanted to check in and sleep.

The family who run the hotel were lovely and clearly wanted us to have a good stay. We arrived tired from a night bus, and since our rooms were empty they let us check in at about 7 a.m. without charging extra, which was a lifesaver. It’s in a quiet area within walking distance of the old town, and the included breakfast had great options.

The people at Alley Garden Villa were incredibly welcoming and kind. They looked after us and took care of everything we needed. The rooms, service, and location were all perfect. We’d definitely come back. 🙏🏽❤️

We had a superb stay with a lovely, sweet family. They were accommodating when we were in a hurry, and kept offering fruit and tea, which we loved. The place is peaceful and full of fruit, while still being super close to the old town.
