Gold Central Hotel by Haviland

Kiêu Hoang Nhut, the doorman, gave us a lovely welcome when we arrived for our two nights at the Gold hotel. The staff were kind, and the location was good. We had some trouble with the hot water at first and with the shower draining, but the beds were comfortable.

I strongly advise against staying here. There was mold everywhere, which I believe is harmful to health, despite earlier guest reviews. After spending two nights here, I now have serious breathing problems. This place isn't fit to rent out, and health authorities should look into it. If you care about your health, check the room before staying. Not recommended ❌❌❌

The location was pretty good, but the service was only average and I wouldn't recommend staying here. The pictures don't show the current condition. At first the place looked old and in need of some maintenance, but we thought it was acceptable for the price. Then we spotted several large patches of black mould on the ceilings. Worse, mushrooms were growing from under the TV cabinet, which explained the constant mouldy, damp smell. Both rooms also seemed to have ants, and the whole stay left me feeling the health standards weren't safe. We asked to change rooms and the staff agreed, though they didn't seem surprised by the complaint, as if they'd heard it before. The receptionist didn't come to inspect until we insisted. The replacement room still had black mould, but no mushrooms, so we put up with it for our one remaining night.

There was always someone at reception if we needed help, and they arranged a trip to Ba Na Hills for us at a lower price than Kloop or Get My Guide. Our room at Gold Hotel was spacious and clean. An J Huy Tho was especially sweet and helpful. I'd recommend it if you want to stay on the city side, with just a short grab ride to the beach.
