May's House Hoi An Ancient Town Center

May's House has a lovely, friendly feel, and the hosts really care about their guests. It's a small family-run business, with clean, very nice rooms and a delicious breakfast. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hoi An!

This is perfect for a solo traveler, and only 10 minutes on foot from the boats and the magical center of Old Town. I stayed one night in the single room and slept better than I have in months. The window faces the back, with an open view and no traffic, so it's really quiet. The AC is silent too, which isn't common in Vietnam. The room has more than the pictures show, with everything one person needs and lots of thoughtful details: towels for your body, hands, and bathroom floor, a table and chair, a small bedside light, and a lovely improvised spot to hang clothes. There's also a fridge, kettle, coffee, tea, and filtered water in glass bottles, which I really appreciated. I'll always stay here when I'm in Hoi An center.

May’s homestay is easy to reach, and the old town centre is about a 15 minute walk away. They sent recommendations and kept in touch by WhatsApp before we arrived, which was reassuring. Breakfast was included, with a few Vietnamese dishes or standard options like omelettes and toast. We ordered the night before and it was made for us in the morning. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome. We didn't use the free bikes in the end, but left our luggage there after checkout so we could wander around without carrying it. Had a gorgeous stay, 10/10 would recommend May’s in Hoi An.

Our hosts even mailed my shoes to the next town after I forgot them. Their service was impeccable and the hospitality felt so genuine. They were friendly from the moment we arrived, and we felt right at home. Breakfast was great every day, and they also did laundry. The bed was one of the comfiest we've had in Vietnam. If we're in Hoi An again, we'll definitely stay here.
