Menora Grand Da Nang

I visit Denang regularly and always choose the Menora Grand. The rooms are a good size, very clean, and have all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay. The staff are efficient, especially reception and housekeeping. Special praise to NHU QNG HKM in housekeeping and TUIN in customer service, both real assets to the hotel for their excellent care.

The rooftop area is tiny, with just four sun loungers, so you have to get up early if you want one. The pool and bar are also in fairly poor shape, and the hotel didn't look like the booking site photos at all. The actual place was much more disappointing. In the rooms, there are no light switches near the bed, so you have to get up and walk to the door to turn off the lights. The soundproofing is bad too. I could clearly hear people in nearby rooms and the common areas, even early in the morning. Breakfast fell short: the juice wasn't fresh, and there wasn't even a coffee machine. The hotel also feels dated and really needs refurbishment. Payment was another hassle. They require a bank transfer instead of payment through Booking, which is inconvenient, especially when sending money to a foreign bank account. A simple online payment would be much easier.

There were mosquitoes buzzing around while I slept, which put me off and is why I'd give this three stars instead of four. If you're fussy, I'd suggest staying elsewhere. I would only recommend booking here at a discounted price. The pool and bar were under renovation during my stay, and the amenities were basic, though I did get a toothbrush, shampoo, and soap. The room service was okay and helped wake me at 9 almost every day. Breakfast was filling, if mostly the same each day, and the sunny side egg was a nice way to start the morning. I had booked expecting a four star hotel, but it turned out to be three stars. I got a good price, so I was content with what I received. My stay was mostly positive, and I'd recommend it for someone on a budget. The doorman was friendly and helpful, probably the only staff member who gave good service. Everyone else was average. The location depends on your plans: for a quiet trip it's okay, with massage shops, convenience stores, cafes, and food places nearby, some open quite late. The location is great if that suits your itinerary.

The TV was much smaller than it looked in the pictures, and the fridge didn't work. When we asked about it, staff gave us a trash bag, and there were no cold drinks for the two days we stayed. They didn't speak English in the evening, or even seem to know the word “fridge.” The bellman dropped my expensive guitar, and there was staff in the lobby coughing uncontrollably. This has to be the worst hotel I've stayed at. I wish I hadn't booked it.
