Platinum Danang Hotel

I slept well on the sixth floor, and the room had no musty smell, which can be an issue in Da Nang. It was clean and comfortable, with good AC and Wi-Fi, and the staff were really nice. The location in My An was great, near the beach and lots of restaurants, while still quiet at night. The four windows were narrow. There was still plenty of light, but I’d have preferred one or two larger windows. It’s not a fancy place, but it was good value and I’d happily stay again.

The location near the beach is great, and the staff were outstanding: friendly, helpful, and professional. The service and the people were the best parts of my stay. There was a damp, musty smell in the room. It wasn’t extremely strong, but it was noticeable and became uncomfortable over time, especially for anyone sensitive to smells. Scented candles seemed to mask it without fixing it. It feels like a moisture or mold problem that needs proper maintenance, not just fragrance.

The noodle pot snacks were a thoughtful little touch, and after a long day out I especially appreciated the shower’s strong pressure and properly hot water. I also got a lovely surprise when the staff upgraded me to a room with a window. It made the space feel bright and comfortable. Platinum in Da Nang is simple and comfortable, with kind service and excellent value. I’d gladly stay here again.

For the price, this is a decent budget place in one of Da Nang’s best tourist areas. I paid $10 for the smallest standard room with a window and stayed two nights while looking for a monthly home. The bed was soft and very comfortable for my nine-hour sleep. The room itself was fine for a short stay, and the pool was genuinely good for swimming laps, a big plus for me as a fitness guy. I arrived at 1am after my flight was delayed eight hours by a tropical typhoon. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to check in, but the night guard let me in, thank goodness. The day staff were very friendly and spoke good English. There are motorbike rentals right outside, plenty of good restaurants within walking distance, and the beach is only a few minutes away. Grab taxis can get to the hotel quickly too. A few downsides are pretty common for budget hotels in beach cities: a mild black mold odor, low shower pressure, and some bugs on the floor. I have sinus problems, so mold and dirty AC filters are a big no for me. In nine out of ten hotels in Asia, at any price, I’ve had to clean the AC filters myself, and here the toilet bum gun made that easy. Internet was about 10mbits, not enough for online work or Netflix, so I used a 5G Viettel SIM and got around 250mbits. The cable TV didn’t work either. It was an older 32-inch Samsung with a USB input. Some rooms face a school and might be noisy during school hours. It wasn’t a big deal, just keep the window closed. I was happy with my two nights and can recommend it if you’re low on cash. Check the room and ask to change if there’s a mild mold smell.
