Rosa Bayside Guesthouse

When I stayed here before, the room was fine, though she did mention spraying the room I'd booked for bedbugs. That alone makes me say it's best avoided. This time I agreed to pay 350k for a room that usually costs 200k because of the firework festival, but then the owner asked for a deposit. No hotel has ever asked me for one before. I explained that and said again that I come every weekend for work and would be a regular, but she didn't care and wouldn't negotiate. The owner seems like she didn't do well at school. That's the kind of logic you're dealing with.

Thanh Binh beach is only a five minute walk away, though it wasn't our first choice for a beach in Da Nang. For getting to the gorgeous Son Tra penninsula, a short motorbike ride worked well. We rented one through the hotel for 150kvd. It wasn't the cheapest rental we've had, but still cheap by western standards. The location also made it easy to walk into the city for yummy food and morning coffee. We spent three nights at the Rosa bayside. It's a new hotel on the road along the bay, about a 20 minute walk from the train station. We hesitated to book somewhere for only $8 with no reviews, but were glad we took the chance. Our standard room had a decent view of the bay and mountains. You can pay more for a room with a view. The rooms were nicely decorated, with a quality mattress, though it was still firm in what seems to be the Vietnamese style. There was air conditioning, a fan, phone, refrigerator, and a nice light with a dimmer. We also asked for a kettle and cups. The hotel has 24 hour reception, a night security guard, a lift, and room service. The staff treated it like a hotel, calling in the morning to ask whether we wanted the room cleaned and whether we'd like to book another night for ourselves or our motorbike. Their English isn't perfect, but they do better than some and are friendly. The prices seem aimed at budget backpackers, though the quality and service would be fair at a much higher price. If you're staying in Da Nang, I'd book while prices are still low. Highly recommended!

After a long night train trip, the rooms were just what we needed: clean and comfortable. It's very close to the station, so getting there by taxi was easy and cheap.

There are lots of restaurants nearby, and the hotel is cheap. The room is nice, with air conditioning, a fan, and a TV, but the bed wasn't comfortable enough.
