I stayed for four weeks. The staff were lovely, and the rooms were a good size with a fridge, TV, and AC. From a front room you can look out over paddy fields, and it gets quite quiet after 9pm. The location was perfect for getting away from the bustle of central Hoi An. It's 3 Kms from central Hoi An by bicycle.
We left in the middle of the night after a large cockroach ran out from behind the curtains. There had already been small ones coming out from behind the strange wallpaper on the bathroom wall, and the room smelled humid when we arrived. The mold smell wasn't obvious at first because detergent covered it, but after we went into town and returned, it was strong. The longer we stayed, the more our throats itched and our lungs burned. The room had an unhealthy amount of mold. We asked to change rooms, but the hotel was fully booked, so we decided to move hotels instead. The front desk guy apologized and said he'd speak to his boss about a refund the next day. We were only refunded for the second night, not the last, because they said we checked out too late for them to rent the room again that night. That was very disappointing. Honestly, they shouldn't rent that room at all with that much mold.
The room on the third floor was extremely humid and moldy, as other reviews have said. There was wallpaper beside the bed covering the moldy wall. If you touched it, your finger came away wet. Six curtains and a carpet in a damp room like that made no sense. We checked in at 2pm. At first the room seemed okay for the price, and smelled strongly of perfume, which we assumed was from cleaning. When we came back in the evening, the perfume smell had faded and the mold smell was back. It made our throats and noses uncomfortable, and the AC made it worse. Ants were crawling around the bathroom, and cockroaches came out from behind the wallpaper and from under the bed. We know it's rainy season and rooms can get humid, but this wasn't acceptable. We'd stayed in many rooms in Vietnam during rainy weather and hadn't seen anyone cover mold with perfume. Other places told us about the room and let us check whether we were okay with it, with the option to cancel free of charge. We decided this room was unhealthy and left in the middle of the night. The staff apologized a lot and told us to return in the morning so the manager could refund us. We only got the second night refunded because they said we'd left too late for them to give the room to someone else. Maybe the room shouldn't be rented until it's properly renovated and the cockroaches and ants are dealt with.
This was my third stay, and I can't beat it. The rooms are nice, the views beautiful, and the staff AMAZING. I'll be back for a fourth time soon!
The second room was clearly a downgrade, and when I asked for a discount, they kicked me out into the rain. I've visited Hoi An several times for holidays, and this was easily my worst experience there. I stayed on the third floor, where water leaked from the ceiling straight onto my bed. The staff and owner did nothing about it. When I asked to move, they put me on the second floor, where the hot shower didn't work. While I waited wrapped in just a towel for them to fix it, they kept entering my room without permission and still couldn't get it working. The noise was awful, both from traffic outside and inside the hotel. You could hear everything. The online photos were misleading: they showed peaceful rice fields, but there's a busy road right in front with heavy traffic all day and even at night. Do not stay here!
