Southern Hotel Hoi An

A cute little hotel in a handy spot, with friendly staff and a good shower. I'd pick a room listed as city view. Some rooms face the hotel hallway and seemed a bit dark.

There's no elevator, so this isn't a good fit if you have mobility issues. Otherwise, the location is fantastic, right at the old town entrance. We spent each evening having a drink on our balcony and enjoying the view. Those were lovely moments and felt worth a lot.

The room we got was dirty and looked nothing like the photos or listing. They had shown and confirmed a window and terrace on WhatsApp before we arrived, but in reality there was no proper window, just a covered opening facing a brick wall. When we complained, they said there was no other room and handled it unprofessionally. We cancelled and stayed elsewhere. The online representation was misleading and the stay disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it, since you can find much better places in the same price range.

I booked two nights but left after the first. The bathroom drain was blocked when I tried to shower in the morning, and water flooded the whole floor. Reception offered just a 5% discount when I told them I was leaving early. The room also had no window, even though the online photos showed one and the booking didn't say it would be windowless. When I asked to move, they said no other rooms were available. It seems few rooms have windows, and the balconies we saw were inside the building facing the stairwell. The photos are deceptive, since you'd expect a balcony you paid for to look outside. Awful place to stay, I wouldn't recommend it.
