Uptown Hoi An Hotel

The service made this the best stop of our nearly month-long trip through Thailand, Lao and Vietnam. The rooms are basic but clean and work well. Being about 300 m from old town suited me: I could avoid its traffic and get a bike or car right from the entrance, since those aren't always allowed inside. I skipped the spa, but others in my group loved it. I'd stay here again if I return to Hoi A.

Lona made check-in feel especially welcoming. She offered me a seat, drinks and a cool wet towel, then patiently explained things to know and places to visit. She even remembered my name. The room looked a little dated, though it was clean. Breakfast was simple, with an egg station, and the menu changed over the three days. Good value and a pleasant stay.

The staff made this my favorite hotel on a four-week trip around Southeast Asia. They were warm and genuinely helpful: one pointed me to a local place for a haircut, and when they learned passion fruit was my favorite, they sent me back to my room with a whole platter from their staff lunch. Such a sweet gesture. The old town was an easy short walk away, the rooms were nice, and breakfast was decent.

It was nice being just beyond old town, where things felt less busy. The staff were kind and ready to help with whatever we needed, and our room was clean. The rooftop pool had some amazing rooms. I'd definitely recommend staying here and would come back!
