Golden Hotel

The room was a nice surprise after our stay here eight years ago, when I'd expected it to be tired by now. It was spacious, with lots of windows, a comfortable bed, and a lovely bathroom, though the floor was filthy and covered in hair. The buffet breakfast was great. Reception staff were lovely, but most of the other staff seemed a little unfriendly. There are often busloads of Vietnamese tourists, so expect noise in the hallways and smoking in the foyer. We stayed one night and would definitely come back.

A thick coating of dust on the shelf was the first thing I noticed in the room. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. In the bathroom, the bath mat wasn't changed at all during our stay. We could live with that, but at checkout they charged us a very high fee, saying it was too dirty to clean. That felt ridiculous and like a scam. A bath mat can go in a washing machine, and I've never had an experience like this before. I strongly advise against staying here.

The room looked shabby, with mould around the windows and on the wall. When I checked recent reviews and saw similar complaints, it made the bad feeling I'd had on arrival even stronger. We'd booked five months earlier, so it was a real disappointment. The staff were okay, neither especially welcoming nor unpleasant, but something about the place felt off from the start. When we said we were leaving, the receptionist immediately used her walkie-talkie to bark a few orders about checking the room, then said we had to wait. I'd never encountered that before. We'd paid for two nights, but left anyway because we weren't willing to risk made-up fees, especially since we hadn't stayed the full time. It wasn't a pleasant experience, and I wouldn't recommend this place.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly. Golden Quang Tri Hotel is conveniently located in Dong Ha, Vietnam, and makes for a good place to stay in Quang Tri province.
