The village setting was lovely and quiet, with mountains all around and only nature and countryside sounds. Downtown was about 10 minutes away. We stayed one night before and one after the loop, and booked a private self-driving tour for the two of us with a guide. With the New Year discount, it cost about the same as group tours we’d considered. I’m glad we chose it: we saw another tour group of around 20, despite it being described as small, playing loud EDM and spoiling the calm at viewpoints. Skybay tour was great. The main meals were usually tasty northern food, and portions were always more than we could finish. I’m Vietnamese and from the north, so I can be picky about food. Breakfast at the hotels along the way was hit or miss, though you could get up earlier to find local breakfast in each town. The host really looked after us and supported us while we were out on the loop, even replying when we messaged at 11pm. We’re pretty picky, and were satisfied. Beautiful place, comfortable beds, and a great trip!

The hotel sits 3 km outside the city, in quiet natural surroundings, so it’s relaxing and away from the smog. It’s a great base for the world-famous „Ha Giang Loop“, with rice terraces and lovely walking paths through paddies nearby. As a photographer, I spend almost the whole year at my favourite place, Sky Bay Lodge in Ha Giang, Vietnam. The family running it is very nice, especially Manager Ms. Tuyet, who speaks perfect English. She can arrange a cheap taxi from the bus station for the 3 km trip, 50,000 VND = 1.90 USD. There’s a broad choice of rooms, from very inexpensive to quite comfortable.

After the Ha Gian Loop, this was just the place to recover in nature. It’s totally silent day and night 😜, with big, cozy rooms and amazing king size beds at very reasonable prices 🤑. The valley and rice field views are wonderful, the food is great, and the owners are friendly but respectful. WI-FI is excellent, and it’s an easy drive into town, only 10 minutes. The swimming pool helped me feel completely regenerated, and now I can carry on my motorbike trip toward Hoang Su Phi, Bac Ha & Sapa 🙏💖 Highly recommended!!! 🤩🙏🥰🇻🇳

The village is peaceful, and the bungalow opens onto a phenomenal, serene view with mountains all around. The lodge team are so kind and work hard to make your stay pleasant. We slept better here than anywhere else so far in Vietnam, the beds are really comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Winni, the owner, was a wonderful host, so kind and helpful, and supported us through our bike journey. It’s a lovely little resort near Ha Giang city. Stay here for your Loop trip and get the bike from them.
