The beds are rock hard, and the hotel looks quite old, though the rooms themselves are fairly clean and roomy. There are good restaurants and attractions within walking distance, so the location is convenient. Nobody at the hotel speaks English.

The coffee was nice, but breakfast otherwise wasn't appetizing. One receptionist was rude when we complained about dirty pillows, and acted like we were being difficult. Other guests smoked in their rooms and made quite a bit of noise.

Hot water in the shower was a plus, and the room was spacious, but it was old, damp, and smelled musty. The bed was harder than any I've slept on, short of the floor. I must have been exhausted, because I slept through the night without even drinking. The fridge didn't work, and the staff didn't make much effort to help. Breakfast is hard to judge since they'd run out of food by 8:50 am. I paid $30 for one night, which is why I gave it 2 stars, though it really deserves just 1. If you're visiting Halong Bay, I think it's better to take the full day cruise that leaves early in the morning. It lasts around 6-8 hours, and you'll see more. A shorter option makes more sense if you're planning to spend the night on a boat.

A pleasant, modern, clean hotel in a great spot for visiting Ha Long Bay. Sun World is just across the street, and the night life makes for a nice view.
