Ha Long Dream

The rooms and beds are large, the heater worked, and the hotel was clean and in a great spot right in front of Sun World park. Buffet breakfast was okay. We had a scary elevator incident, though. My family got stuck inside while my husband and I were still in our room. I called reception, but she didn't understand that people were trapped, so I went down to the lobby and showed her the elevator's error signal with eight people inside. The emergency call button inside wasn't working. Luckily, one of my aunties had signal on her phone; otherwise, people could have started panicking. At arrival, the receptionist looked confused, as if she couldn't understand English or wasn't expecting us, even though we were with a tour group. I was hoping for a warm smile, but that simple welcome didn't seem to be something they emphasized or practiced.

The rooms were spacious and clean, with good air-conditioning and excellent shower pressure. Breakfast had a good spread and was quite good. Communication at reception could be better. During our stay there was no air-conditioning in the front lobby, just floor fans.

It stays peaceful here until you're ready to get up, which was a welcome change after some noisier cities. There are several good restaurants nearby, especially for local seafood, and it's a great place to stay when taking a Ha Long Bay cruise.

We sleep really well here. We've tried almost every room type, and they've all been lovely, quiet, and fitted with beds and pillows that are incredibly comfortable. Halong Dream Hotel is our regular choice whenever we visit Ha Long city. The service is better than any other hotel we've stayed at here. Walking into the beautifully scented foyer makes me take a deep breath and feel like I'm home (I wish!).
