La Playa Ha Long Hotel

We arrived from the sleeper bus at 4 AM and needed a room at the last minute. The owner sorted one out and made sure we could check in when we got there, which was very helpful. The place was spotless and affordable, and the room was modern, elegant, and much more spacious than in other places we’d stayed. The shower had a glass door to keep the rest of the bathroom dry. I’d recommend it.

We liked the place enough to stay for two months, and it was great value. The rooms were spacious and clean, with excellent showers and WiFi. Owner Son and the rest of the staff were lovely and helpful. The beach is less than a five minute walk away. The area is quiet, with a few shops and restaurants nearby. It’s easy to get a grab for 40,000 vnd, or you can walk about 30 minutes to the main shopping areas.

The receptionist was especially kind and attentive. He even let me keep my bike in the room, which is rare and much appreciated. I also had one of the best showers I’ve come across in ages, with lots of hot water behind an enclosed glass door. The location is great too.

We liked being close to the beach, though the hotel is a little far from the city center. There aren’t many restaurants nearby, and it’s a quiet area. The rooms were new, clean, and very comfortable, with a minibar, free bottled water, tea, and coffee. Good value for the price. Housekeeping came only twice during our five day stay, but whenever we asked, staff happily brought extra towels, toilet paper, and other amenities. We could hear some noise from the nearby beach club between 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm. They also arranged a shuttle to Hanoi Airport, making departure easy.
