Paris Of Dragonbay Hotel

We liked how calm and safe the area felt, and there weren’t too many tourists around. Several good cafes and local restaurants are within a 10-minute walk. The hotel has lovely spots throughout, with lots of plants, and our room was spacious. Everyone was friendly and helpful. A very pleasant stay, with everything exceeding our expectations.

I waited 30-40 minutes for just a few fresh juices, and some came after customers had already left. The staff were slow and seemed inexperienced with several customers at once. They forgot orders, served things chaotically, and didn’t clearly explain which dish was which. Saying only “pho ga” leaves customers unsure whether the chicken pho has breast or thigh, and seafood vermicelli had the same problem. When staff offer recommendations, they should be honest instead of overselling dishes, which just leaves people disappointed. The broth was generally a little salty, too. At 100k for a bowl of pho, the quality should match the price. The chicken was cut unevenly, partly torn and partly stuck together, and looked worse than a 40-50k bowl elsewhere might. There’s also a strong, unpleasant smell when you enter, like pickled bamboo shoots mixed with jasmine or something similar. It was there three years ago and is still there now. Very uncomfortable. Lots of room for improvement.

The staff were helpful, the location was good, and you get a lot for the price. I liked the rooftop garden and the plants outside, and I’d be happy to return. A couple of things didn’t bother me much for a short stay at that price: my room had no water, it wasn’t cleaned during my two nights, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work in half the room.

We stayed for almost a month, half of December 23 and half of January 24, and the owner and her staff made us feel at home. My wife and I can hardly find enough words for how kind, friendly, and helpful they were. Our room was clean and very quiet, so it was easy to rest. The hotel is close to everything in this part of Ha long, Hon Gai. The owner has also invested in a cruising boat, and we plan to take a tour on it next time we come to Vietnam. For this class, it’s one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at. Warmly recommended, and our thanks to the owner and staff.
