There’s a lake almost across the road, with cafes around it that make for a nice walk, and the B52 museum and Ho Chi Minh mausoleum are very close. Most other sights are too far to walk to every day. There are plenty of local restaurants and cafes nearby, but if you’re tired of Vietnamese food or want something different, you’ll need to walk a bit farther. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning was good, the room was quiet, and there was hot water. It took some figuring out, but they can explain how to get it working if you ask. For the price, the place itself is okay. A few things brought my score down, though. Communication was useless through both Booking.com and WhatsApp, even for confirmation. I had to walk over just to make sure the place existed and I wasn’t being scammed. My booking was there in the end. They offered us a room upgrade on arrival, but I’m not sure it was better because it didn’t have the desk I’d booked. The floor was dusty and dirty. They swept it quickly when I asked, which helped, but I could still feel sand and dust underfoot. They only do full cleaning if you ask, and otherwise don’t check whether you need it.

We were pleasantly surprised by a discount, and the room was cosy and comfortable for such a reasonable price. I stayed two nights at Ami House with a friend, and we really enjoyed it. The reception staff were especially kind: they let us leave our bags after checkout and even gave us snacks. Drinking water was free too. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good value in Hanoi.
Minh made my three-night stay a great experience. He was consistently kind and helpful, checking that everything was okay, and his professional, positive attitude made a real difference. Thanks again, Minh. I highly recommend the hotel!
The location is great and the staff were friendly, which makes the condition of the place such a shame. It looks like it had good intentions, and the design and photos are impressive, probably from when it first opened, but it has seen better days. The rooftop was closed, and the lobby in the pictures couldn’t even be used. Cleanliness was the biggest problem. We found a cockroach in the bed, hair everywhere, unwashed-looking sheets, stained towels, dust all over, and dirty drawers. The toilet smelled strongly too. It was the dirtiest place we’ve ever stayed. I wouldn’t recommend it in its current state.
The staff were lovely, and both the location and price were good. Our room had a strange smell and moldy pillows, but the host understood and gave us a discount. I’d stay again, just check the pillows when you arrive.
