The poor management and service made this stay extremely disappointing, and I don’t think it was worth the price. At checkout, we were charged for an extra room key that we’d never received. We asked several times for the staff to check the CCTV footage, but they refused and still insisted on payment. Wi-Fi didn’t work at all during our three days there. We were told toothbrushes and toothpaste weren’t provided because of a “Vietnam government plastic ban,” which isn’t true. I saw housekeeping with several toothbrush kits at checkout, so guests were being misled. Breakfast was badly run too: the staff at the live egg station disappeared when guests came over, and food wasn’t replenished while breakfast was still going on. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The views, food, and service were all excellent, and the hotel was great overall. My room was on the 14th floor, directly below the rooftop on the 15th, and around 6am I could hear what sounded like staff moving chairs and tables. That was frustrating when I wanted to sleep in on holiday. The bed in my single spot in the room for three was also very hard and hurt my body.

Breakfast was very good, and most of the staff were friendly and smiling. The location wasn’t the best, though, and everything required a bit of walking, which wasn’t much fun in the heat. There was a strange smell in the elevator, too. I was on the third floor, and although the Wi-Fi signal looked good, the internet in my room barely worked most of the time.

We had a very pleasant stay, and there were good vegetarian choices at breakfast. Cao quynch chi made us Vietnamese coffee, and it was amazing. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The Chalcedony is well placed for the night markets and Old Quarter, with plenty to see and do nearby. Room service and breakfast, lunch, and dinner service were outstanding. Dang at the Chalcedony restaurant was especially helpful and always eager to give premium service. Thanks for such a lovely stay.
