Grand Vista Hanoi Hotel

I was surprised that room service couldn't be added to the room bill and paid at checkout. Payment was required as soon as the meal arrived. That put us in an awkward spot because I was in the shower, so my mother answered the door and asked if the charge could go on the room. When staff said no, I had to cut my shower short and come out to pay. They said the only alternative was a 2-3 million VND card deposit to make sure I didn't leave without settling the bill, which seemed excessive for such an inexpensive meal. The whole process was inconvenient and didn't match what I expect from hotel service.

We spent three nights here with our family. The rooms were quite good, but the location and hospitality didn't work for us. For a holiday, the hotel is far from the old quarter, where 90% of tourists stay, and most tour guides won't pick you up here. Food options for vegetarians are limited. We asked to take some fruit for our small baby, but they wouldn't allow it, even after we explained. I'd seen the same issue in earlier comments, so it seems to be their rule. At the pool, there were no life jackets for babies, and they wouldn't let us use the floating tube, saying it was for staff only. I couldn't understand why staff needed it, or how someone not properly trained to swim could save anyone in an emergency. It was a rubbish answer. We didn't like the way they treated us, and wouldn't recommend this for a family holiday, especially with a baby.

The breakfast buffet had a varied and tasty selection, and the staff were friendly, helpful, respectful, and gave great service. Our four-night stay was really nice. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well organized, and the location was good. I'd definitely book this hotel again when I'm in the area.

A neat, clean place and good for a stay. Breakfast is vegetarian on some days, while lunch and dinner are non-vegetarian only. There's an Indian restaurant nearby serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
