The central location and clean room seemed good, but I left after the first night. The balcony room is a bad choice if you need quiet. The homestay is on the bar street, and even earplugs didn’t block the noise. I can’t imagine how noisy it must be in the morning when I check in, though it had seemed completely soundproof then. There’s no elevator, and I had to climb to the fourth floor, which wasn’t even the top floor. You also have to take your shoes off before going to the room. The narrow, busy street makes taxis hard to get. You have to walk 100 meters to catch one, and at night the crowded bar area leaves most nearby roads jammed. I didn’t like the bar street. It felt like a place to have fun, not stay, and didn’t feel safe. They hadn’t given me towels, but then refused to return my deposit because they thought I’d taken them. They treated me like a thief and told me to wait without explaining why. Once they realized they were at fault for not providing towels, they blamed us for not telling them we didn’t have any. It was a whole drama, the staff weren’t nice, and I never got an apology.

The staff were the highlight of my four-day stay at Hanoi's Lane Homestay. They went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable, and check-in was quick and easy. The front desk greeted me warmly, knew the facilities and amenities well, and gave me a thorough overview before I settled in. My room felt modern and luxurious, with tasteful, comfortable furnishings and clear attention to detail. The bed was plush and made for a restful night. It was also thoughtfully equipped with all the necessary

We stayed here twice for one night each, before and after the Ha Giang Loop, and had very different rooms. The first was the cheapest standard double at the back. It was clean and nice, with a full shower area separate from the toilet. Despite being near beer street, it was quiet, and the curtains kept it dark in the morning. I’d give that night five stars. For the return stay, we paid extra to upgrade to a Queen room with balcony. That one felt smaller and cramped, and the bathroom was such a tiny wet room that I couldn’t use the mirror without shutting the door. Beer street noise was intense until 3am. We asked to move to a room at the back, but none was available. Then the curtains let in all the morning light, so it was bright by 7am. After being kept awake all night, we couldn’t sleep in.

Right on the bar street, but it wasn’t as noisy as I expected. The room was clean and the staff were nice.

The location made it easy to get out and explore, with lots of markets and restaurants close by. My room was clean, secure, and had plenty of amenities, including a fridge, AC, flat-screen TV, and bathroom. It was close to 50C during the day, so the AC was a lifesaver.
